Harold and Kumar
Living in LA, you can pretty much expect to see celebrities once in a while. People here try not to make a big deal about it- they want to play it cool, like they're one of the crowd. We regularly see Jay Leno driving one of his old cars past our place. Anyway, we were at The Americana last night for the umpteenth time since it opened, having dinner at the new Granville Cafe with Irish, Clint, and Chauie. None of us noticed that Kumar (aka Kal Penn) from the movie Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle and most recently Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay was sitting next to us on the patio except Chauie, who has actually seen the movie. I found it funny because all I remember thinking after seeing the preview is, wow, this looks like the all-time stupidest movie ever. The only reason we mention it is that Kumar's wife complimented us on what a cute baby she thought Ella is.

Kal Penn is also in a GREAT movie called "The Namesake", which is also a GREAT book. So you can feel better about giving him credit :-)

Jay it was so great to skype with you guys last night. So cool to have all of you talking to each other, 2 in CA, 1 in peru and the rest of us on the east coast! Amazing! and not much difficulty either. We need to get the rest of the fam on it, i.e Aunt L and Uncle R and grammy.
can't say as i have seem that movie or ever will, but do remember him from 24. Thanks laur for saying that. It probably would have haunted me for days to try to place what show he was on.
Wondering if that show will ever be back on......
just remembered what else he is in. House. He plays Dr. Kutner.
Cool Jay...never seen any of his movies. Perhaps shawn has...he's the movie buff in our house. Cute family picture!
