Double Tribute

Tonight is the All-Star game in baseball. It's being played at Yankee Stadium, "The Cathedral of Baseball," which unfortunately, will be the last time the All-Star game is played there. It's set to be demolished at the end of the season to make way for the new stadium. Kind of sad if you think about all the great players that have played there since around the 1920's- Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, and the list goes on. I'm kind of bummed that I probably won't ever make it to see the stadium in person. As a tribute to America's greatest pastime, and since we're in a baseball mood from the Dodger game the other day, I have included a video here about baseball. It's a stand-up routine by the comedian George Carlin. You may have heard that he died recently. He is best known for his extremely crass, off-color humour, but this video doesn't contain anything offensive. Although he does seem to harp on the sport of baseball, it is an extremely well thought out stand-up routine, and worth watching. If you're familiar with many of the terms used in the sport, you'll be sure to be laughing.

thanks jay for the Carlin video. Dad and i always liked him. A bit crude at times, but oh so funny.

I think Joseph might even enjoy that comparison of BB to FB.

Not to do w/ BB, but the Spectrum is being demolished. I guess you are getting old son, since these buildings you remember from your youth are being demolished to make room for newer and better structures.

Wow! They're tearing down the Spectrum too. Golly. Got some good concert memories there...

I like the baseball posts, Jay. I'll pop back in a bit and listen to the video. On the run now. We too have been enjoying baseball here in NC the past couple of nights. The Home Run Derby was a lot of fun to watch! We're not finished watching the All Star Game. I recorded it and we're only into the beginning. We'll continue watching it tonight.
