Feeding the animals is always fun. This year the animals were a lot more aggressive, which led to me dropping most of the food we were given for them, as they jumped up on me.

Next up was the now annual tradition of picking out a pumpkin. We generally go for the smaller sized ones. This also allows Ella to be the one to carry it. It appears this year's choice is a bit of a stretch for her. In spite of the look on her face, she was happy to pick out the pumpkin.

This year the pumpkin seemed just big enough for a carving attempt. Nothing fancy here, just a traditional jack o'lantern. You'll notice Ella's face below as she takes in the drawn on face that we are about to cut.

Ella wasn't a fan of defacing the pumpkin, at least until she saw how it works, with the candle and all. Check out the video, in which she makes her opinion known, and also gives Melody some 'tude.

so special to be making these traditions. I love it. Hope it is still sitting on your front step when we get there.
uh, nope. it got covered in mold on the inside within a few days. and it got squishy. gross. i don't know what's going on. either we didn't clean it out right, or our place has mold
pumpkins don't last long in warm weather. I would just buy another one closer to halloween. nothing to do with your place.
yeah, we'll buy another. vons has big ones for only $7
she will remember picking out pumpkins w/ you which is really what you are looking for in the whole experience. She won't remember tht you had to buy one at the grocery store later.
do you remember going to Hellerick's with the postell's to pick pumpkins and go thru the corn husk maze?? I know we have pics of it.
hmmm, i don't think i remember that. i vaguely remember the maze, maybe. too bad. where was that place?
it was up on 611 in plumsteadville. i probably took the girls more since you were too "cool" by then.
i LOVED hellericks! it was good for picking strawberries too :)
ella certainly has the attitude down huh? you could always tell her to "lose the 'tude!" like mom used to say although i think it's kind of like telling a woman to "calm down"...doesn't really help much!
